Words cannot express my deep sorrow for the nation of Japan after the devastating Earthquake and tsunami disasters this week. My heart goes out to everyone in Japan, especially in the north. When I was about 16, my friend daniel and I loaded up his car with my drums and went to cow fields to play for them. This time, we were in the middle of a big field and then a huge pack of wild cows started to surround us, then a thunderstorm came out of nowhere and they went crazy. we threw the drums back over the barbed wire and into his car.

Another one of my cats from childhood died today back at my parent's house. He's the third.
jesus. what a bummer.
I loved petting the part on his back in front of the tail cuz his bootie would always rise up and he would meow "maaahhh". And there was a special way to hold him when you pick him up which was unique to other cats because he was so heavy. When you look down at him in your arms, he would always look back real dumb and happy.

Because I was in China recently, I missed out on the first part of Hanami (Cherry Blosom season) in Japan and, I guess, arrived just at its climax. Suddenly the universe had flipped upside down. It was spring, but it was snowing pink... looking down into the rivers was like staring up into space... and people in Tokyo seemed happy for the first time. It left me feeling disoriented.

Daniel and I have been friends since the second year of highschool. One night, four of us "borrowed" his parents car and drove from louisiana to pensacola, florida- because there had just been a hurricane there and we wanted to swim in the ocean during the storm. We got there five hours later, in the middle of the night, the beaches were blocked off, and the whole town was completely deserted except for police. We wandered around all night and eventually right as the sun came up, we found the beach.

この手紙を一生懸命翻訳した後読んでみると、最初にこの手紙を受け取った時ほどの感動は薄れてしまったけど、最初にこの手紙を読んだ時は、二文目を読み終えた時から僕は泣き出してしまいました。この手紙は、僕に二つほど、考えさせてくれる事がありました。
一つ目は、どれだけこの子が自分自身について、人生について、僕について思うとき、純粋で無垢であるか。
二つ目は、昔の僕について・・・。

みんな何処かから初めなきゃいけない。

"Patrick, when I found out you are going to another school, I was very sad.
I really don't want you to go to another school.
Your class was really fun!
I am aiming to be an Olympic swimmer, so I am training every day.
You are aiming to be a photographer, so let's work hard and head for our dreams together!

I guess reading this again after I did my best translating it, doesn't seem like much now... But when I read it the first time, i started crying after the second sentence. I guess it hit me in two ways. One: How innocent and pure this kid is about himself, life, and me. Two: It took me way back....

My friend marcel was staying over at my place on and off for a few weeks. he was in between apartments, going through a lot with his girlfriend at the time. I have known him for about two years and although we are both very different now from when we met, he is still just as kind. I hope I will stay in touch with him forever. - coley
